DR. & CAPT. MATTHEW FULLER (1603-1678) (John, Robert, John)
"Matthew Fuller was baptized October 16, 1603 in Redenhall Parish, co. Norfolk, England. Just when Matthew came to America is not certain, neither do we know whether he brought his wife with him or whether he married Frances in America. the records both in England and America are apparently silent. It seems probable that they were married in England and brought one or two children with them. In public and private life Matthew was a man of sound judgment, of good understanding, faithful in the performance of duty, liberal in politics, and tolerant in religion. In the Quaker controversy he took a noble stand in favor of religious toleration. He censured the law against them in public and was fine 50s for it. Probably he had seen the good side of it in his Quaker son-in-law. Matthew owned large tracts of land in Suckenesset, now Falmouth, and in the "Major's Purchase", Middleboro, granted as "first born rights" and for the eminent services he had rendered in the colonies.
"We have the following records of Matthew Fuller:
"November 7, 1636; Pope records that Matthew Fuller was received into the Church of Scituate by letter from the Church in Plymouth. This would hardly seem true considering the records that follow.
"October 26, 1640 of Vol. I, p. 108 L R Plymouth: "Memorand That Matthew ffuller doth acknoledg that for & in consideration of a cow calfe and two goats to him in hand payde by Andrew Ringe of Plymouth hath freely sould unto the said Andrew Ringe All that his garden place in Plym aforesaid and the six acres of land thereunto belonging lying in the New feild wch the said Mathew lately bought of John Gregory and all the fence ... and aall the tymber lying at the garden place and upon the said lande made ready towards the buildinge of a house."

ROWLEY LINES
Line 1
HENRY ROWLEY ( -1673)
"Henry was born in England and married Sarah Palmer there; circumstantial evidence strongly suggests that the family with three small children had crossed the Atlantic together.
"The first records of Henry Rowley are in Plymoutn (Vol. I, p 9 PC--March 25, 1632/3) in which Henry is among others rated (taxed) for public use by Governor Bradford; his tax was 9 shillings. In 1633 Henry (Vol. I, p 1 PC) is listed as one of the freemen of Plymouth; he is also listed as freeman in Scituate and Barnstable.
"On October 17, 1633 (Vol. I, p. 27 PC) Henry married Anna, the late wife of Deacon Thomas Blossome. The second tax list of Plymouth, dated January 1, 1634/5 Henry with a few others was admitted into the "freedome of the Colonie". January 18, 1634/5 Henry and Anna Rowley join the first church of Scituate.
The following records mention Henry Rowley:
January 1, 1637/8: "Whereas certaine freemen of Scituate viz, Henry Rowley," among 15 others,
"have complayned that they have such smale proporcions of lands there allotted them that they
cannot subsist upon them"...the Court grants them "all that upland & neck of land lying betweene
the North & South Rivers."
January 22, 1638/9: Both Henry and Anna move with the Rev. John Lathrop to the new settlement
of Seppekame, later Barnstable.
January 22, 1638/9: "A graunt of a plantacon called Seppekann, and the lands thereabouts, for the
seatinge of a towneship for a congregation there is made unto Mr. Thomas Besbeech, Henry
Rowley", and six others.
March 2, 1640/1: "At a Gen'rall Court of our Sou'raigne the Kinge held at Plymouth," Henry was
elected constable for Barnstable and was sworn in June 1, 1641.
December 7, 1641: "Henry Rowley, of Barnestable, plantr, acknooledgeth to owe the Kinge, &c,10 pounds."
August 1643: Henry Rowley is listed among 61 names of males able to bear arms.
August 29, 1643: Henry Rowley represents a Barnstable at the General Court at Plymouth.
June 2, 1646: Henry Rowley is named one of the Surveyors of the "heighwayes" for Barnstable and
again on June 1, 1647 and June 7, 1653.
June 7, 1649: Henry Rowley made a deposition with regards to land ownership of William Gillson.
June 6, 1650: Henry Rowley was one of twelve jurymen who disposed of five cases of damages.
1658 (Vol. 8, p 200 PC): Henry is listed freeman in Barnstable.
October 22, 1668: Henry Rowley serves in jury of twelve men at corroners inquest.
May 29, 1670: Henry Rowley is listed in anmes of freemen of New Plymouth; this is last public
reference to his as he left no will and the inventory of the single item as shown below indicates
that he had given, all other property to his children before death.
July 1673 (Vol. 3, par I, p 93 P Ct.): "A true Inventory of the Estate of Henery Rowley of Saconeesett
deceased exhibited to the Court held att Plymouth in July 1673 on the oath of Majer Rowley as

SAMUEL FULLER (1612-1683) (Edward, Robert, John)

"Samuel was born about 1612 at some place in England not yet found, no record of his birth or baptism having been discovered. Samuel grew up under the care of his uncle, Dr. Samuel Fuller (who also came over with him on the Mayflower), at Plymouth. He has three acres at the division of lands in 1623, receiving, it is thought, those of his father and mother, andone for himself. If this theory is correct he was at least sixteen years of age at the time, and his birth occurred as early as 1608 instead of 1612 as we have conjectured above. It is not quite certain however that he was old enough to work this land alone.

"Samuel is mentioned in his uncle's will of July 30, 1633 as follows: "It my will is that my Cozen (nephew) Samuell goe freely away with his stock of Cattle and Swine wthout any further recconing wch swine, are the halfe of six sowes, six hogges, one boare & four shotes. Also one Cow & one heyfer." "it. my will is that in case omy sonne Samyell andother my children die before such time as they are fitt to enter upon my land for inheritance that then my kinsman Sam. ffuller now inthe howse with me enjoy wh'soever lands I am now possessed of except my dwelling howse at town or whatsoever shall be due to me or them." "It. I vige to him my Rufflet Cloake & my stuffe sute I now weare."

"Dr. Samuel Fuller died within three months after having made the will. As the doctor's children survived, Samuel received none of the lands, and soon, apparently started out with the cattle and swine to seek a home. He became a freeman of the colony in 1634 and settled near the town of Scituate, where on April 8-18, 1635, he was married to Jane, daughter of the Rev. John Lathrop, pastor of the Scituate church by Captain Miles Standish at Mr. Cadsworth's house. November 7, 1636, he joined the church of Scituate, having a letter of dismission from the church in Plymouth, of which he had been a member. He built in 1636 the fiftennth house in Scituate, on Greenfield Street on the first lot abutting on Kent Street. He had twenty acrtes of land on the east of Bellhouse Neck in that town, probably a grant from the town.

"In June and July 1639 the Rev. Mr. Lathrop and many of the members of his church removed and founded thetwon of Barnstable. If Samuel Fuller and his young family did not at once follow him thither, he did so in a few years. The Barnstable church record contains the baptism of his daughter, Sarah, on August 1, 1641 and of Mary on June 16, 1644. There is no record of his settling in Barrnstable before 1650 and there being no pastor at Scituate, it is conceivable that Samuel took his two children to Barnstable to be baptized or that his father-in-law, the Rev. Lathrop visitged Scituate for their baptism.
"In the second volume of Plymouth Colony deeds, folio 1 is a deed which begins as follows: "To all Christian people to whom this present writing shall com Samuel ffuler of Scituate in the government of New Plymouth in New England in america sendeth greetings;" He then proceeds to convey to "Peter Collymore of Scittuate" "one dwelling house and a barne and Cowhouse with sixteene acars of upland more or less bounded on the west with the land of Mr. William Varssall, on the south with the land of Resolved White, on thenorth with the hieway by the herring brook; and on the last with the mersh; as allsoe two pcells of mersh land contoining twelve acars, ---- with all and severall the appurtenances therunto belonging or any way apperteining." This deed was signed and sealed March 25, 1650, the first day of the year according to the calendar then in use, equivalent to April 4, 1650 Jane ffuler the wife of Samyel ffuler did com before mee Timothy hatherley asistant to the Governor of New Plym: in New England and did freely acknowlidg her willingness of the within Mencioned slae and did freely Resigne up her Right to Peeter Collymore.

"Samuel Fuller also bought meadow of his cousin, Matthew, that was Major John Freeman's and meadow of Samuel House, and land on Scorton Hill. He lived inthe northwest angle of the town in a seculded spot, where few had occasion to pass. Samuel had been a constable at Scituate in 1641, and his name appears a few times as juryman, or committee to settle difficulties with the Indians. He was the only one of Mayflower passengers to settle permanently at Barnstable and one of the late survivors of that immortal company. Samuel died between October 31 and Novenber 10, 1683. He was buried, ifnot on his own estate, in the ancient burial place at Lothrop's Hill in Barnstable, near the site of the first Meeting House; no gravestone now exists.

The will of Samuel Fuller (Plymouth Colony Wills and Inventories, volume 4, Part II, pages 138 and 139) is as follows:

EDWARD FULLER (1575-1621) (Robert, John)

"Edward Fuller was baptized September 4, 1575 in the parish of Redenhall, co. Norfolk, England. No trace of him has been found to indicate that he was, like his younger brother, Smauel, with the other pilgrims in Holland, and it appears probabole that he joined the others on the arrival of the Speedwell in Southamton, England where the Mayflower was awaiting them.

"His name appears in the Mayflower Compact which was drawn up in the cabin of the Mayflower just previous to the landing at Cape Cod in November 1620.

"The name of Edward's wife, though sometimes given as Ann, is really unknown. Governor Bradford simply says that "Edward Fuller and his wife died soon after they came on shore." Edward died at Plymouth between January 11 and April 10, 1621 and his wife died early in 1621, after January 11. Their only child, Samuel, oh whom further, came with his parents on the Mayflower".

ROBERT FULLER ( -1614) (John)
"Robert Fuller was a yeoman of ?Redenhall, co. Norfolk, England like his father. He owned at least one tenement property in addition to his homestead, and left an estate amounting to several hundred pounds. The vital records of Redenhall, where he lived and died, call Robert Fuller a butcher at times. His will makes him a yeoman, at which time he had possibly retired from active trade.

"The following is an abstrace to Robert's will, dated May 19, 1614, taken from Register 1614, fol. 259 at the Norfolk Archdeaconry Court of Norwich, England: "Roberde Fuller of the parish of Redenhall, yoeman. Directs his burial in Redenhall Church yard. Give to wife Frances a tenement called assyes in Harleston or Redenhall, with a little orchard adjoining which "I late bought of John Cooke, now occupied by my son-in-law James Spalding," for her life, "also two bundles of faggotts a year and 40s a year to be paid by son Thomas." To son Edward Fuller, the said tenement "on the death of my wife", and twenty pounds. To daughter Elizabeth Fuller forth pounds, and to "Mary Fuller, my daughter," forth pounds, all to be paid by son Thomas. To son Thomas, a tenement lately built and "wherein I now dwell held of Tryndelhedge Bastoft Manor in Redenhall or Harleston." To son Thomas some personal property which is specified. "The rest of my chattels to be divided and half to be given to my wife, the other half among my four children, viz. Edward, Ann, Elizabeth & Mary Fuller. When my grandson John Fuller, son of my John Fuller, shall be of age sufficient to be bound apprentice, then my son Thomas to have the choosing of his master and trade and is to pay five pounds to set him forth." Wife Frances and son Thomas executors. Witness. Thomas Wales, John Sutton, William Fuller.

"May 23, 1614, four days after making his will Robert Fuller is buried in the church yard at Redenhall. may 31, 1614 the will of Robert Fuller is proved by his widow and on June 16, 1614 by Thomas Fuller.

"Living in Redenhall in 1482 and 1488 were John and William Fuller, both freeholders, as they were then serving on a jury. In 1508 William Fuller and John Fuller Jr. were named as grantees in a deed of land in Redenhall. This land was bounded on one side by "Free land of John Fuller". A copy of this deed may be seen in Egerton Manuscripts, 2713, fol. 7, British Museum, London. John's will indicates he owned land and tenements both bound and free in two or more places.

"The abstract of John Fuller's will, dated February 4, 1558/9 was taken from the original in Register Colman, fol 325, at Episcopal Consistorial Court of Norwich, england: John Fuller the Elder, gives to son John Fuller all land and tenements "both bound and free in Redenhall and Wortwell, or elleswyer, he paying to my son Robert Fuller ten pounds."
