Daniel Notestine married Charlotte Lev on 20 Mar 1842 in Allen Co, IN; It is not proven that this is the right Daniel Notestine, but is a strong hunch.

Don't know if this is our Daniel. The name, age, and birthstate match. This is the only Daniel Notestine in the 1880 Census, and he's in Allen Co., IN. However, the name of spouse is Susan, not Charlotte, and his mother's birth place should be PA, not VA...?

OBITUARY: Obituary of Albert Smead from the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, 7 March 1919;
Albert Smead Dies After Long Illness
Operated Trucking Business for Years; Veteran of the Civil War
Albert Smead, Seventy-eight years old, one of Fort Wayne's most widely known
truckmen, and a veteran of the civil was, died at his home, 1417 East Wayne street,
at 3:50 o'clock yesterday afternoon from complications, after a lingering illness
covering a period of five years.
Mr. Smead was born in Allen county and received his education in the schools of Fort
Wayne. After the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted February 14, 1862, in
company 11, Indiana volunteer artillery, and served until his discharge at
Chattanooga, Tenn., February 13, 1865. After his service he returned to this city,
later engaging in the trucking business with which he was associated for thirty-five
years. For the past three weeks prior to his death, he had been bed fast. He was
a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Lawtan Wayne post, G. A. R.,
and of the Cathedral congregation. Surviving relatives are the widow.
Funeral services will be conducted at an hour to be announced later, at which
friends are kindly requested to omit flowers.

NOTE from Brian Smead: Three sons, that I knowof, of John Milton Smead and Rachel
Hatfield were Civil War veterans, Albert, Edward C. and Thomas H Smead.

OBITUARY: Obituary of John H. Smead from the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, 3 Nov 1912 ; John H. Smead, a retired farmer, died yesterday afternoon at 4:20 o'clock at the
family home on North St. Mary's ave, at the age of sixty-one years. Death was due
to complications and following an illness of several years.
Mr. Smead was born and reared in Allen county and has spent his entire life near
Fort Wayne. Three years ago he left his farm in St. Joe township, moving to Fort
Wayne. He was highly successful and was well and favorably known throughout this
section.
Surviving besides his wifw, are three daughters and three sons; Mrs. Tony Vernon,
Mrs John Stephenson, Miss Margaret and John F., Charles L., and Walter J., all of
whom reside in Fort Wayne. A brother, Albert Smead, of this city, also survives.
Since coming here the deceased had been a member of the Precious Blood church,
and of the school society of that congregation.
Funeral announcements will be made later.

In the name of my lord Amen. I Henry Cronister of Reading Township, Adams County and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound disposing and memory and understanding and knowing that it is appointed to all that are to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament in marked following do: 1st I order and direct all my lawful debts, funeral and other expenses to be paid as soon as commissioned may be after my decease. 2nd I order and direct all the property that I may be p.. if at the time of my decease to be sold at the discrection of my Executors as soon as convenient to them --- 3rd I ordain and direct my Executors to deed all the lands I hold to my sons agreeably to the arranging shares with them respectively as soon as money can be collected from my Estate to enable them to pay the expenses attending the same. 4th One year after all the aforesaid lands are Pallented(?) HEINRICH CHRONISTER - the second son of Johannes and Maria Barbara (Weidenbach) Cronister was born in the year 1744 in Huntington Township of Lancaster (later Adams) County Pennsylvania. According to the records of the Lower Bermudian Lutheran Church in Latimore Township, Adams County, Heinrich Kranester, son of Johannes Kranester, was confirmed on April 29, 1764. Through out his life Heinrich is mentioned in other recoreds of this church indicating that he was a faithful member all of his life.
On November 7, 1768, at the Lower Bermudian Church, Heinrich was married to SUSANNA COX or (COXEN) who was the daughter of WILLIAM COX and his wife ANNA (ELLICKER) COX of Huntington Township. Susanna was the granddaughter of the Swill immigrant CASPER ELLICKER and his wife ANNA RITZ who came to America in 1743 from the small village of Kuessnacht in Canton Burich Switzerland. Casper Ellicker died in 1766 but his second wife Susanna lived to see many of her great-grandchildren.
Heinrich and Susanna became the parents of sixteen children all of whom were born in Reading Township of York County, Pennsylvania. They are;

Soon after his marriage Heinrich began to build a farm in Reading Township just to the south of Latimore Township. According to early Pennsylvania tax records by 1779 he was already clearing and farming 480 acres. He also added large tracts of land to his holdings in 1794 and 1801. Noting the size of Heinrich's farm by the turn of the century it is clear that he was one of the wealthiest men in the county at the time. He was also a man of much prominence in the local community being appointed assessor for Reading Township in 1800.
Heinrich died on August 15, 1818 and is buried near his parents in the Lower Bermudian Church cemetary in Latimore Township. His wife Susanna preceeded him in death on April 7, 1814 and is buried at his side. The inscription on Heinrich's gravestone reads; [see BURIAL source above]
