"George McClintick -- born September 24, 1857 in Richland County, Wisconsin. He came to Cedar Rapids in 1873 and married Josephine Broadbend, daughter of Edwin Broadbent, in 1881. George and Josephine had four children. He was a carpenter by trade and helped build the Cedar Valley Church. George died January 26, 1901 in Cedar Rapids."
p 154, "...the blizzard of 1888 - ...he [Uncle Bob - Clarence "Bud" Miller?] told us about going out to the barn the next day and finding the barn roof caved in with the snow. George McClintick had a team of good horses in there. George was so disturbed that he hitched up his team and started to California!

"James H. McClintick --born August 24, 1861 in Richland County, Wisconsin. He came with his brother and parents to this area in 1873. James married Henrietta Broadbent, daughter of Edwin Broadbent, on December 22, 1881. The couple had three children. Henrietta died March 5, 1955.
"James entered the restaurant business, then went into the drug store business. He was probably best known as the manufacturer of the best homemade ice cream around. Several hundred gallons fo the product were consumed locally each year.
"He served as Boone County Clerk for six years before his death May 20, 1930."
p 33, "1884 - The Blood Bros. sold the west half of their building to McClintick and Broadbent."
p 64, "Toland Drugstore, owned by Alonzo W. Toland was sold to G.H. Doughty and J.H. McClintick in 1893. The legal description given in the paper was the east half lot of block eight and was sold for $2000. Mr. Doughty and Mr. McClintick were still operating the drugstore in 1896. In 1899, Mr. James McClintick advertised his own drugstore...
"In January, 1920, Henry VanDeVegt purchased the stock of the J.H. McClintick Drugstore. This was the building now occupied by the Village Salon. Mr. J. H. McClintick went into politics and served as County Clerk."
p ? Jan 9, 1903 McClintick's Corner Drug Store was destroyed by fire, with 5 other businesses.
p. 71, Jim McClintick is listed as one of the first attendees of the Methodist Church, along with Morton McClintick, various Robinsons and Edwin Broadbent and Michael Kraft.

"Watson Dufoe was born April 8, 1844 in Harlan, Illinois, the son of Oliver and Lucinda Dryer Dufoe. His father Oliver Dufoe was born in Three Rivers, Canada. Oliver and his brother Edward Defoe came to the United States while they were still young men, making their way by playing violins for dances."
"Watson was one of ten children. They were Mary, Esther A., Edward, Watson Orr, Minnie Isabel, Lorenzo Prosser, Phebe Elmaette, Levi, Amanda L., and John E. Edward died when a baby. In the 1850's they moved to Iowa. Lucinda died soon after they arrived in Iowa, leaving that large family motherless.
"A few months later Oliver married Cassander Lyon. They had five children, Evan Srack, Sarah G., Lucy E., Charles Henry (Henny), and James G."; also F429.
