Notes for George Allen:
Known as the "Anabaptist of Somersetshire." George came to the American Colonies on a ship in 1634 with the Rev. Joseph Hull from Balcome and Salftford, Broadway, Somersetshire, England, via Weymouth, England. George had 9 known children. All but two of his sons came to the American Colonies with him. At least one preceded him to America. With him when he came to America on the ship were: George Allen(age undecided) from Saltford, Somerset. Mrs. Katherine Allen, age 30. George Allen, Jr.(age 16) William Allen (age8) Matthew Allen (age6) Edward Poole (age 26) servant.

George was a resident of Lynn, Mass. for a couple of years. In 1636, ten men from Lynn received a grant for land at Sanwich, Mass, which they settled in 1637. George was appointed constable of Sandwich in 1639 and appointed Deputy to the General Court for four years (1640-1643)

George's will was proved in 1649 with his wife, Catherine, name executor. The house that George and Catherine built in 1646 in Sandwich was still standing in 1860.
